The education sector in the UK is one of the best in the world so it gives you an opportunity to progress. My first impression of Sunderland is that it was quiet and peaceful unlike London or Manchester which I prefer. Its more natural and less distracting. I’ve never been away from home before and my teachers at ONCAMPUS feel more like parents as not only do they teach us academics but also morals and they always try to be there for you.
I choose to study in the UK because it’s a faster process - three years in the UK to study Law compared to other countries where it can be double that. I chose Sunderland because it gave more advantages - the cost of living is very cheap and the environment is conducive to learning, it’s not a big city so it’s good for learning and I can focus more without getting distracted.
I already knew I wanted to study Medicine of some kind so the ONCAMPUS UCLan Medicine Foundation was perfect for me and the length of study in the UK was shorter than in other countries I looked at. It also meant I could chose a different pathways at the end of the course if I wanted to. The teachers here are very different, the information is more applied compared to in Nigeria so it has been much better. My biology classes are really interactive, and the teachers take their time to answer questions so that you understand. Preston is quiet and the people here are really friendly and I have made friends with many students from different countries. When I finish my degree I would like a job within Forensic Science either in the UK or another country.
I wanted to study in the UK as a UK degree in Medicine is recognised worldwide which gives me flexibility to work wherever I want to on graduation. This Foundation course bridges the gap between high school and the MBBS as Medicine can be very difficult to get into. The learning environment of Preston is good as there is little distraction so you are encouraged to study more.
I want to focus on Computer Science to help society with cyber security. I chose London because it’s a diverse place. I’m working with others from different backgrounds. I now feel like I’m ready for the real world.
The education and study is much more advanced in the UK, which gives me an edge over others in Nigeria.
My tutor was amazing in helping me research UK universities and the grades I needed.
Having great friends helps motivate you. You see everyone working hard and you want to succeed! I want to succeed with everyone, I want all of us to be great together
CATS is a diverse school with a lot of people from different nationalities. I thought it was going to be hard for me to settle in, but people here are friendly and it was easy
ONCAMPUS has help me realise my goals, and they continue to help me as I progress to University. ONCAMPUS supports it’s students throughout their time studying with them, but they also support their students who are studying at the university, they’re always their to help
